Before beginning any project, senior leadership needs to understand and bought into the project, the results, and the money budgeted for the project. Based on my experience, if you do not have this “buy-in” from senior leadership the project will have a higher probability of failure.
Ensuring all the stakeholder who are participating in “the project” need to be communicated and educated as to the rationale of the project and expectations defining success. This is one reason the use of Agile teams or supporting tenets can help in the successful executions of projects.

Agile projects require the cooperation of a group of people, whether they are full-time workers, independent contractors, or consultants working on a project for pay or fun. Agile teams are usually co-located during the project’s duration and focus solely on that one task. All team members must be on an Agile team for the final product or service to be created. Commonly, the team consists of members from different departments, and their specific responsibilities will change based on the nature of the project and the Agile methodology employed (Bergmann & Karwowski, 2018). Businesses may better respond to their customers’ ever-evolving needs, boost transparency, and cut waste by combining Agile with project management. One in five projects was completed last year utilizing a hybrid of Agile and project management, per the Heart of the Profession survey. Primary limitations can be evaluated continually with Agile project management. (Gandomani et al., 2020).
