Virtualization Software

As defined by Shamir (2021), virtualization is the practice of creating an abstraction layer in software over physical computer components. The advantages of virtualization and cloud computing are many, as described by Pearlson et al. (2019). As a result of virtualization, physical server consolidation or elimination may be achieved, saving businesses a ton of money on their data centers. Instead of a large initial investment, fees are collected every transaction while operating expenses (such as repairs, upgrades, and power) remain constant (Pearlson et al.,2019). Furthermore, there is no requirement for a specific physical area or any guessing about the number of storage servers required. As virtual infrastructure usually needs internet connections for devices and applications, the network becomes relatively easy to manage (Pearlson et al., 2019).

With virtualization, resources can be shared and assigned as needed, making upkeep a breeze. Cloud computing and virtualization enable rapid completion of any new provisioning or capacity, as noted by Pearlson et al. (2019). Conventional data centers take weeks, if not months, to expand since doing so entails ordering new hardware, waiting for its arrival, physically installing it, and ensuring that it is compatible with existing systems (Pearlson et al.2019). Due to the dynamic nature of the architecture, adding and provisioning resources in a virtual environment takes relatively little time (Pearlson et al., 2019). I fully agree that virtualization has many advantages, as Pearlson et al. (2019) described. Some of the other benefits of virtualization mentioned by Shamir (2021) are decreased or eliminated downtime, increased resilience, increased productivity and efficiency, and a more environmentally friendly setting.
