Virtual Private Networks
Abstract
Virtual Private Networks (VPN) refer to a secure network that encrypts connections over the internet from a given device on the web. Typically. Some links are often encrypted and thus ensure the sensitivity of the data transfer and that there are no errors (Sharma, 2020). These errors, in cases where they occur, land in unauthorized hands and use them for their benefit. The use is also permitted to work remotely, and therefore the use of public internet creates a secure network of VPN.
Introduction
VPN is an acronym that stands for Virtual Private Network. The use of the VPN mainly ensures that connections of an individual, organization, or set-ups are protected from viruses and breaches while using the internet connections. It is vital to understand that using a Virtual Private Network guarantees no interception of information in the data transmission process (Khan, 2020). Therefore, working away from the office is allowed. Consequently, VPN is a way of creating networks that are encrypted across unsecured connections to the internet. Therefore, this study aims to discuss VPN’s advantages and disadvantages. To achieve the required set-ups, the study will provide for the establishment and creation of a tunnel for data.
Body
VPN has several advantages, making it necessary for its efficiency. VPN is responsible for protecting the privacy of data online, masking IP addresses, and becomes handy as a protection tool, especially for activists within environments that are prone to cyber-attacks (Abdulazeez, 2020). Although the use of a VPN is practical, it also has cons. The use of cheap VPN?s often slow, insecure, and collect data sets. Also, using premium VPNs is always expensive to manage; thus, most people need help to afford them (Juma, 2020). Data hoarding is also not protected with VPNs as they are used on social media; hence, data is prone to effects.
Conclusion
Conclusively, using VPNs is vital as it protects online privacy and data breaches. Therefore, it is recommended that its use and methods of efficiency be studied to prevent measures and effects of misuse of the data. Therefore, a person should learn the value of using a VPN though research should also be improved to improve the areas that VPNs are yet to cover in cyber-security issues.
