Correctional facilities, commonly referred to as prisons or jails are houses where felons who are convicted are held for a specific period of time to modify their behaviour positively. Prisons are able to hold them for more longer periods than jails. A significant portion that is in prisons across the United States are public prisons that is, they are run and owned by the federal government. A lesser proportion of them are private prisons operated by a non-profit third party which is contracted by government agencies to house people who are incarcerated. Because of the overcrowding that occurs in public prisons, the authorities has decided to place a number of convicts into private jails. Private prisons have proven to be more beneficial than public prisons. So, prisons need to be privatized.

Prisons need to be privatized due to of their cost-saving benefits for those who have to pay taxes. The flexibility of private companies allows them to move more effectively and more quickly to improve their operation in comparison to a prison that is public. Incredibly, these entities are able to take cost-saving measures quickly.
