Introduction

Server virtualization is the application of software that divides one physical server into separate virtual servers that each independently operate different operating systems. This type of virtualization allows one computer to perform a variety of tasks simultaneously, increasing efficiency of IT department’s flexibility, and cutting costs for the department (Pearlson and co. 2019, 2019). Cloud computing refers to the provision of computing-related services, such as databases and software over the internet. Cloud computing allows businesses to pay for services as they need them and as they require instead of investing heavily in IT systems and saving the company money. Cloud computing and server virtualization are closely linked, and have similar goals for data storage.

The Organization’s Environment and Virtualization Preparedness

The company I work for is called the Hattle Medical Center, which aspires to provide high quality medical care for patients. The hospital is home to three hundred beds , and is classified as medium-sized. I am a part of the IT department, which they’ve decided to virtualize. The hospital has ten doctors who specialize in various fields. Departmental headships work together to ensure that patients receive the most effective and efficient health care.
