Risk Assessment

Instructions
As the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) professional for a manufacturing company,
you have just completed the quarterly inspections and have found hazards. Because your
resources (both financial and human) are limited, you must complete a risk assessment to
determine which hazards have a higher priority for mitigation. Use the quantitative risk
assessment method outlined in the unit lesson, and explain why this method is the best
choice for assessing the risks associated with the hazards and the purpose of your project.
Review each of the hazards identified below, and conduct a risk assessment using the
quantified method for risk assessment. Click  here to access the quantitative risk
assessment form, and make certain to include the spreadsheet in the appendices. The
project report should include the elements listed below.

1. Summarize the steps you used to determine your risk assessments, including
   conducting a hazard identification inspection.
2. Provide an explanation as to why the quantitative risk assessment method is one of
   the better methods for evaluating risk for this type of hazard.
3. Discuss the results of the findings, including the priority of mitigations for the
   identified hazards.
4. Provide a recommendation as to whether the project mitigations are justified using
   the William-Fine method.
   

Risk Assessment

A risk assessment program is essential to identify and reduce workplace risks or hazards with comprehensive mitigation strategies. Risk assessments should be conducted at least two times each year. The organization’s assessment began with hazard assessment and risk assessment. According to Wuni and colleagues. (2022) Risk assessment starts with hazard and threat identification. This is in addition to events triggered by hazards which directly impact the property or people. Hazard identification inspections are employed for workplace incidents prevention in order to start the assessment process for mitigation. 

This method is proactive since it helps identify hazards before accidents occur. Before identifying the hazards every activity within the workplace are categorized and the consideration starts with all hazards that are known to are found in manufacturing operations. The job can be done through the collection of information or organization, as well as revision by workers in the specific work areas, assist in determining the danger kind that could be present and those who are at the most risk (EFSA Panel on Health and Safety at Work and Safety. (2018)). In addition, training for employees is an essential element of ensuring that the hazards are correctly identified. Wuni et al. states that different situations tend to affect the risk behaviour of employees in accordance with their individual perception of risk (Xu and co. 2020). Risk perception is believed to influence risk-taking behavior , or risk acceptance behavior when it is not addressed through effective implementation and education as part of an organization’s safety plan.
