In terms of discipline at school, black female children are significantly more likely be subject to prejudice (Monique Morris’ TedTalk) . To help black girls thrive and achieve their full potential schools, according to my view similar to Monique Morris’ must be places of healing, not punishment. My view is that the discrimination that black women, particularly black girls, is often ignored. The crime rate of Black women isn’t just an issue on the streets. It is now a part of our schools, destroying one of the biggest obstacles to women’s violence (Monique Morris’ TedTalk). The lack of awareness of the particular needs and challenges of females of color is a common problem in our educational system today. This is why they tend to make generalizations about all black females and employ harsh discipline measures which force many girls into juvenile courts. Since we are prone to making negative stereotypes about black women, we’ve got an system that unfairly punishes women of color. It’s unfortunate that educators also, tend to assume an attitude that is that is based on a girl’s race when they describe her actions. cont…
