If you were forbidden from owning ANY private property in the future (car, cell
phone, home, pets, etc), what would be the EFFECTS on YOU personally?

Property Ownership

We believe that owning an automobile, a house and cell phone, pet or other property represents our security, fulfillment of our goals, independence and freedom. I can’t think of any person in the world who does not have any kind of possession. Every possession, no matter the dimension, has been deemed to be a important achievement. Imagine that one day you wake up to discover that everything you own to show for it is gone. There are no clothing, phones, home cars and toys, no art and much more. You’re not able to make it to work, appear decent and have you have nothing to be proud of or care for. If I were to be stripped of my personal property I’d never be the same person again as I’d lose the motivation to be myself, the identity, and the security that they offer.

Since I don’t own a private home I don’t have any obligations due to ownership. For instance the car has the need for gas and internet access for a cell phone washing clothes, and a house requires renovation. So, there’s nothing to anticipate or motivate my work. The removal in property rights affects our psychological, subjective and social well-being impacting our overall quality of life. The social lives of people are as well by having property, which allows us to set expectations that we meet, and assess the progress made. If ownership rights are lost and the quality of our lives is diminished and our physical and mental wellbeing is affected.
