The use of drugs that is not part of the dosage that is prescribed and age, indication or method are referred to as off-label usage. Off-label use of prescription drugs is particularly frequent in the field of pediatric drug therapy because there aren’t many drugs developed and sold exclusively to children (Blankart and Lichtenberg 2022). There’s plenty of information on the use of drugs in adults, but there isn’t much that is written in relation to children. The majority of prescribed medications haven’t been researched for children and typically there’s no evidence to prove the efficacy and security of medications for children. This is due to the insufficient amount of research conducted for this population as a consequence of commercial motives along with ethical technological, scientific, and moral issues (Schrier and colleagues. 2020). This is why the majority of treatments that are suggested for children are done on their own or without a prescription. Based on the level of medical care offered and the type of treatment required, and the particulars of the patient of use, the off-label and non-licensed use of drugs can differ widely. The use of medicines and clinical research in children is now covered by a myriad of regulations and recommendations from responsible authorities. This article outlines the circumstances that children must be provided with medications for non-pharmacological uses. Cont…
