particular challenges in the justice system that are confronted by Latino, Native American, and Asian and
Pacific Islander youngsters?

Juvenile Justice

Juvenile justice includes several crucial correctional steps designed to alter the behavior of children. However, certain phases are characterized by discriminatory practices that result in the disparate treatment of youths from various groups like children of colour . Detention and correction, aftercare or referrals are identified as being particularly affecting children of color when compared to whites (Robles-Ramamurthy Watson and Robinson 2019,). Black youngsters lead in the amount of children who are who are detained even for minor errors as well as rehabilitation. Cumulative disadvantage is a concept which explains how a group could be negatively affected over the long term by a specific behavior or trend. The drawback is the consequence of the risk factors they are exposed to. A cumulative disadvantage for youths increases the likelihood of disenfranchisement as well as discrimination disproportionately, especially for those with a color. The majority of them develop the full knowledge of the discrimination aimed against them. Their mentality can be affected from a young age, as they feel they are targets, despite their individual characteristics (Dragomir & Tadros, 2020). The majority of juveniles of color see themselves on the wrong side of the legal system and believe it’s normal given that they control correctional institutions.
