The most sinister crime that could be committed, First Degree Murder is a crime that can result in death. Any person who commits this crime is forever branded as being a danger to the community and is extremely dangerous. While most murders are the result of deliberate decision-making, the defendant could claim innocence at times because of a momentary lapse in sanity. However, the “madman” I consider the murderer from ” The Tell-Tale Heart most scary.” Within ” The Tell-Tale Heart” by Edgar Allan Poe the story is about the protagonist kills his neighbor because of his fear of seeing the neighbor’s eyes. The story’s narrator was obsessed with the blindness of the older man’s eye, and eventually leads to his murder. He declares, “I loved the older man. He never cheated me. He had never given me insult. For his gold, I had no desire. I believe it was his eyes! Yes, it was like this! The eyes of one looked like the eyes of a vulture that was pale blue with a film on the eye” (Poe). The moment the cops arrived to question him and question him, a sound that might be his heartbeat shook him. As soon as the screams were too terrifying and loud the killer confessed to murdering the victim. Although many would say the murderer was insane the killer consistently proves throughout the account the fact that he is a brutal killer. The murderer knows that he was responsible, yet he shows no guilt for the murder of his neighbor. He tells the killer, ” Yes. It was dead! Dead like the stone.
