Issues Affecting Long Term Care in Our Community

Informal and professional nursing services coexist and eventually replace each other. In China, informal care primarily provided by family members is favored, despite problems posed by changing family structures and the way young and old communicate with each other (Singh, 2021). Meanwhile, formal care can take the form of institutional or community care. Home care, community care, and institutional care are the three categories into which informal and formal care are commonly classified in numerous studies (Harris-Kojetin et al., 2019). There are widespread concerns about staff numbers, abuse and neglect, unmet needs of residents, poor quality, staff capacity issues and lack of integration with health services. Long-term care benefits are overpriced, making it difficult to estimate their future costs.
