I believe that individuality is critical in any nursing department, but especially in nursing, as shared by Janet and Wotherine. In other words, nurturing focuses on nurturing loving people. Caring is the intentional and sincere presence of the caregiver with the person living and growing up in the care. In a nursing setting, caring between caregivers and patients increases individuality (Kitwood, 2021). The caregiver enters a caregiving situation with the goal of identifying the person as the caretaker, inviting the caregiver to express what is most important at the moment, to listen to what is asked of the caregiver, and to respond with nurturing caring in the caregiving situation. Caring in between reveals caring as a shared bond. Caregivers incorporate personal, moral, social, experiential, and aesthetic understandings in the process of growing to recognize themselves and others as caring human beings (Byrne, 2021). The caregiver’s dance is a caring, person-centred relational paradigm that allows for rhythmic alternation and acknowledges context, institutional structures and procedures that lead to respect for all caregivers. continue…
