Lastly, create 3 recommendations on how police leaders can balance the importance of police officers’ rights and the rights of the citizens they serve and protect.
Repsond To These Five Post (One or Two Sentnces Is Fine) :
1.) Yasmeen Jones-MuhammadThe Peace Officers Bill of Rights (POBR) is a statute that protects officers’ constitutional rights as citizens in various jurisdictions. Citizens do not have the same rights as police officers, except the requirement for a search warrant during a search and seizure (Peak et al., 2019). Even though police officers’ rights are protected, they are occasionally required to give up their liberty to exercise their civil rights, but only when judged appropriately. If possible, police will be protected from responsibility and litigation in some situations, such as workers’ compensation, law enforcement liability, and police auto liability. (Peak et al., 2019). I propose that cops get to know one another’s religions and beliefs. Officers and citizens should both be subjected to disciplinary action when necessary, and they should not be granted a license to disobey the law. Early Intervention Systems (EIS) may also identify problematic tendencies that can then be addressed through training and therapy.
2.) Anthony VelazquezThe Peace Offiers Bill Officer”s Bill of Rights is intended to protect American law enforcement personnel from investigation and prosecution arising from conduct official preformance of their duties. Police rights are no different than civilian rights, yes while police officers may have a badge and control the law. They are not above the law or the law, a lot of officers get that mixeed up and feel as though they can do whatever they please. accountability is defined as a system of internal and external chewcks and balances aimed at ensuring that police carry out their duties properly and are held responsible if they fail to do so. One recommendation for the police is to remember no one is above the law everyone in the agency is equal, incl;uding the people who are outside and live in the community. The next is to havee more communication throughout the community, get the people more involved have more community events, games, any questions people have, it geets them more comfortable with the police officers. Lastly, be moree understanding with people, if you come off direespectful, don”t be surprised when you get the same energy theere should bee no reason to be upset.
3.) Shetese RobertsThe Peace Officers Bill of Rights also known as the Law Enforcement Bill of Rights is intended to protect officers rights from investigation and prosecution arising from conduct during official performances of their duties. It also provides them privileges based on due process additional which are normally provided to citizens. Which was set forth in 1974 following the Supreme Court ruling cases of Garrett v. New Jersey (1967) and Gardner v. Broderick (1968).
Officers have the right to exercise their civil rights but many times have restriction that comes with their jobs that other citizens don’t have. A lot of times officers have to be mindful of their opinions, the public’s eyes are always on the officers. Perception is everything when it comes to serving the people and enforces the law.
Three ways officers can learn to balance the important of being an office and a person is knowing and learning to be aware of their surroundings and actions. Be careful of the perception that the officer is making on the public and lastly upholding his oath to service his community and as his community what he or she can do for him day in and day out.
4.) Adina MelvilleThe Peace Officers Bill of rights, also known as the POBR was developed in the early 1990s. The purpose and provisions of the Peace Officers Bill of Right are statutes that confer on an employee, a property interest (their job is viewed as their property) in his or her position and mandate due process rights for officers who are subject of internal investigations that could lead to disciplinary action. Police officers are safeguard, however, they must sometimes forfeit their liberty in order to exercise citizen’s rights. Civil rights play a key role when an individual’s constitutional rights are violated by willful police conduct. There are various recommendations on how police leaders can balance the importance of police officers’ rights and the rights of the citizens they serve and protect. Police officers being more actively involved in community and events. Leaders can also adopt strong policies on key issues, ensure officers are properly trained and manage so policies will be followed, and develop strong management and supervision to help ensure police managers are aware of and can quickly respond to problems as they develop. Also using the police working personality.Peak, K. J., Gaines, L. K., & Glensor, R. W. (2019). Managing and leading today’s police: Challenges, best Practices, & case studies. Pearson
5.) Yessenia MartinezThe Peace Officers Bill of Rights, also known as POBR, is a set of laws that protect the rights of law enforcers in the US. It states what they have a right to know, as well as the conditions under which they can be interrogated. Although police officers have the right to practice their civil rights, usually they have to give them up at times. Some limitations are officers have to be mindful of where they are talking about their opinions. civilians can post what they feel when they feel but if an officer does that without thinking it can affect their job and potentially get them in trouble. As a police officer, the job is 24 hours 7 days a week which may intervene with the outside life of an officer but that Is their choice. The department allows for officers to exchange days or shifts but they may have to choose between their religious beliefs and the job.Three recommendations that I have on how police leaders can balance the importance of police officers’ rights and the rights of the citizens they serve and protect are:To allow the opportunity for community policing. It’s very important that the community knows police officers are there to assist and guide them. This creates a better understanding between police and civilians, it also allows police officers to educate those who have questions or those who are unaware of what police officers are all about. For the police officers’ rights to not be extremely violated is to allow certain set schedules that don’t interfere with outside life. aside from extreme circumstances that require police officers to work around the clock or very long shifts. An officer should be given a certain time the longer they work outside of their normal shift. This allows officers to take one or two personal days to recoup from overworking. Even though the job is to serve and protect an officer signed up for this responsibility they’re still human and still need debridementLastly, I feel those police officers should consistently have a system to eliminate the bad cops who are in the department. Those are the people who give a bad image to the rest of the officers throughout the world. People are very opinionated on how they feel about officers in general when their opinions are based on what they see on social media which are only bad cops
