Article Critique
in his work Human-Computer Interaction: An Empirical Research Perspective The writer Scott MacKenzie devotes Chapter 2 to the Human Factor. The book was released in 2013 by Elsevier Inc. At the beginning of this Chapter, author Scott MacKenzie explains that the human element is among one of the most difficult challenges in (Human-Computer Interaction) HCI. The human factor is defined as the study of applying the knowledge we have about human beings, their capabilities limitations, characteristics, and traits in the design of technology that they utilize as well as the environments where they work as well as the tasks they perform (Rice University). In this part the author aims to explain how human factors, such as example the five senses as well as cognitive performance, the human brain and so on. are all influencing the HCI. Additionally, he seeks to illustrate the humanity of human beings in contrast to computers. Scott employs the rhetorical model of inquiry to set the tone in his work. For example, “Why do people make mistakes?” This is why He argues that enhancing our understanding of human nature will allow us build stronger relationships in the near future. This analysis, however, seeks to establish whether the discussion in the article supports the argument of the author.
